Okayplayer.com says: When it comes to hip-hop in Southern California, the spotlight almost always shines on so-called ggangsta rap;h both applauding and condemning it. But hip-hop in L.A. has never been as one-dimensional as it seems on TV. On their debut EP, Slowly Coming Along, Fresh Air shows they have inherited much more from So Cal groups like the Pharcyde and Jurassic 5 than NWA or Westside Connection.

Like Jurassic 5, Fresh Air makes feel-good rap songs over jazzy, sample-heavy production. The trio is lead by emcee/producer Khalil, who does almost all of the rhyming on the album and even resembles Chali 2na somewhat in his delivery.

The media says:

"Man, this is exactly what indie hip-hop should be. These cats have something to say, know how to say it, possess some serious production skills, and even the label knows how to master and press the damn thing." - Toph Onefs Lucky 13, XLR8R Magazine

"From the first drop of the needle on either side of their debut single it's obvious Fresh Air have a real love for hip-hop. With thick hypnotic grooves reminiscent of Native Tongues at their coolest..."-Scott Sterling, Urb Magazine

"Groups come and go, but few debut with a profound presence. Fresh Air is one of those groups with enlightening lyrics and solid production." - DJ A-Ski, Jointz Magazine

g1/2 teaspoon of Pete Rock, 1 ounce of Brother J of X Clan, and a couple drops of Kweli and you got yourself a nice serving of FRESH AIR!! I really donft know why Ifm comparing these cats. Fresh Air takes me back to 92 yet still sounding fresh and new. The unsung heroes of hip hop!h - Anthony Valadez, Tables of Content Radio 88.5 FM KCSN
